At Montana Wood Boat Tours, each tour is led by an experienced guide that can boast of both boating and wildlife expertise. While aboard one of our specialty handcrafted wood boats, guests will dine on a selection of locally sourced cuisine and view wildlife unique to this region of America. On our tours, guests may be lucky enough to see bears, bald eagles, osprey, white-tailed deer, moose and so much more. Alongside the satisfaction of our guests, the safety and well-being of the local ecosystems is one of our chief priorities. We recognize that it is our privilege to share this space with the local wildlife that inhabits it. Accordingly, we always conduct our tours in a way that will ensure the well-being of these habitats and the creatures within them!
Montana Wood Boat Tours is a luxury outdoors recreational service based out of Missoula, Montana. Through our selection of tours on our handcrafted custom wood boats, we uniquely and expertly blend the natural beauty of Montana with fine, locally sourced cuisine. Unlike traditional outdoor tour services, we do not ask our guests to choose between adventure and comfort.
Our legacy began with our founders John Wilcox’s and Annie Mead’s early love for the outdoors, a love that has only deepened as they matured. In creating Montana Wood Boat Tours, John and Annie hoped to combine their passion for Montana’s rivers and dedication to a unique experience resulting in a one-of-a-kind outdoors expedition.
John Wilcox began his love for the river at a young age. At 18 years old he moved to Montana and began his guiding career. He since had taken his passion and guiding further. He operates a fly-fishing guide service in the State of Washington on the Olympic Peninsula and also a fly-fishing service on the Baja Peninsula.
John has spent his entire life on the water teaching anglers how to fly fish. More importantly John shows them how to have fun on the water.
Annie moved to Montana from the Michigan countryside at the age of 20. Annie and John have had two amazing decades together enjoying the wonders of the world and together they want to share it with you.
We are excited to launch Montana Wood Boat Tours!
