Things To Do And See

Looking for a more relaxed experience of the city?

No problem. Check out the Missoula Art Museum,  which is home to over 2,300 objects and the Contemporary American Indian Art Collection. After that, sip on a local craft beer from any one of Missoula’s breweries, for which we rank #2 in the nation for craft beers per capita. What’s even better? Missoula’s close proximity to the Bitterroot Valley, the Flathead Valley and the Clark Fork Valley make it an ideal homebase between other western Montana adventures or day trips. Needless to say, we’re pretty proud of our city, and we’re excited to share her with you.

Schedule Your Adventure

Missoula offers a blend of leisure activities that are all its own. In true Montana fashion, the city offers easy access to countless forms of outdoor recreation, while also promoting a thriving arts and business community. Gain a bird’s-eye view of Missiola by hiking to the top of the “M,” the great letter on the hillside proudly declaring the city. Or maybe you would enjoy a bike ride on any one of the city’s 22 miles of off-street trails or 40 miles of on-street bike lanes. Missoula also uniquely offers river surfing on the Clark Fork in the center of downtown, a combination of the urbane and the rustic that you’re sure to not find anywhere else.

Natural beauty is abundant in the state of Montana, and the Missoula area is certainly no exception. The city finds its home at the heart of western Montana, lying between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. Moreover, multiple national forests and wilderness areas border the city, including the Lolo National Forest and the Rattlesnake Wilderness Area. These wildlands provide habitat to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including black and grizzly bears, coyotes and multiple eagle species among its most notable inhabitants. But you don’t have to leave the city to feel the spirit of nature. The mountains cradle Missoulian society while the Clark Fork flows directly through its heart: a physical reminder that, here, the natural world and the man-made are inseparable.
