Located 45 minutes west of downtown Missoula, the Tarkio Canyon drift offers breathtaking scenery at the tail end of the Alberton Gorge. Steep canyon walls, giant boulders, a few of the best river beaches in Montana, and a couple of mellow wave trains, and ancient evergreen forests highlight this float. A classic drift for those in-the-know.
Located on the Clark Fork River 15 minutes from downtown Missoula, this drift is wild Montana close to home. This float is highlighted by sweeping views of the landscape and the mellow pull of the current. A perfect swimming float in late summer. Eagles, osprey, and raptors galore, as well as the chance to see elk, moose, deer, river otter and mink.
Home water to Norman Maclean and the inspiration of his classic, A River Runs Through It. Crystal clear water, colorful cliff walls, and lovely sandy beaches highlight this storied float.
*Guests can expect a 45 minute drive from Missoula to the launch site and a 35 minute return trip from the takeout at Whitaker Bridge.
